about us We are a hardworking, practical, volunteer youth organisation. We provide training in First Aid and Home Nursing. We strongly believe in our motto "Pro Ulitate Hominum" which means "For the service of mankind" We have volunteered our services at school events such as the Sports day and our annual Cross-Country. Friday, 22 June 2007 Attire I believe that this is not the first time that a senior had to brief on your attire, which was with your full-u.Presently the breifing is on your pt attire. Shirt tuck-in. No fringes or any small strands of hairs “flying” around. Nursing (girls) with long hair should bun their hair with hairnet in pt, and with an extra big hairnet covering all hair when in full/half-u. No ear rings, earstuds or anything hanging on the ear No necklaces, wristbands, bracelets or anything tying around the neck or wrist. Unless it is for religious purpose. (Try to keep it in your pocket) Ambulance (boys) your hair should be cut neatly without any fringes touching your eyebrows, hair should not touch the collar of your uniform NO ankle length socks. Movement and Response When you are in this CCA we expect your movement and response to be fast, loud and accurate. Take note the following things: When u are moving from point to point, DON'T DRAG YOUR FEET, make sure you u are clear with the instructions before u move this applies to all instruction given by a NCO/IC. If you don’t understand, clarify with the NCO/IC. Your standing/sitting posture should be straight up DON’T slouch you’ll look ugly. When sitting at “attention” your wrist should be placed on your laps, back up straight. Response should be made fast, loud, and firm. NOT slow, soft and slack. (You are NOT talking to your boy/girl friend.) When the NCO/IC is asking a question, they want an answer, your opinion, that is the reason that u are punished for not giving us answer, volunteer etc. If we ask a question you should answer truthfully, not the answer we want to hear. Initiative (volunteerism) In St John, when we want volunteers, always be ready. As long as you are ready to volunteer yourself to do face new task, even if you don’t know anything at all. You can ask the NCO/IC; in this way you can learn new things. Take note the following things: Don’t be afraid to volunteer, the NCO/IC will be happy to teach you if you are not sure. When you volunteer, do your best to finish the job. This is call task fulfillment. E.g. when you are the timer in the squad, you’ll make sure everybody can hear the timing by projecting your voice out loud. Basically, everybody have to contribute, whether was it your “bang” on foot drill, your voice upon answering the questions of shouting the timing. Respect When you are in a squad, you have to look straight in front, not other place. By looking in front, you are giving the commander your attention, and it is a form of respect. You will find that you will not easily distract when you pay attention to the commander. Similarly, you DON’T talk, laugh, move in a squad, this not only shows that you are not paying attention to the commander, and also not respecting the commander by not consulting him/her when you are under his/her charge! When you are undercharge of somebody (you might not know, but it is when in class, you are undercharge of the teacher, similarly this also applies to CCA) you have to get his/hers permission do anything. The person in charge needs to be well-informed about your whereabouts and your action so that he/she is responsible too (not only yourself) When you saw a teacher, regardless of what CCA is him/her is in-charged of you must greet. This is because the first rule applies “be polite to the others and the others will be polite to you in return.” When you saw the teacher in-charge (TIC) you have to greet them by their rank or how they should be addressed (e.g. tan is a CSO5 officer, everybody have to greet him as ‘sir’) In classrooms, be quiet classrooms are place which important information are meant to pass around, not for you to gossip, classrooms are not market. When there is no lecturer (Teachers/NCOs/ICs) in the room, you are to quickly settle down in the class and wait quietly for the lecturer to come unless permission given when he/she enters the class 1 volunteer will signal everybody to stand up and greet, regardless of whom the lecturer is. When you are talking to any CCA-mates, seniors you DON’T roll your eyes. This is EXTREMELY rude, and shows that you have not even slightly respect to the person talking to you. Lastly, remember, that if you are rude to somebody. It does not reflect well on you. Neither your parents, school, teachers, friends.
